Don’t waste your life trying to be what others want you to be. Be who you are and be better for it.

There is so much negativity in this world; we all need a bright light to shine forth and lead the way. Be that light. Be that betterment.

God bless!

Kismet …

Serendipity:

An aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident.

Good Fortune, Luck.

Something unusual happened to me this evening;  I was feeling rather insecure about a myriad number of things and something told me to go with my cousin for prayers.  So I did.

And am I ever Thankful!

Tonight I was greeted by Familiarity and welcomed by Grace.  Embraced by Light and carried into Kismet. I walked into a prayer hall and walked out with Spirit guiding and Blessing.  Tonight, the answers came.   God works through people.

Write. Sing.  Dance.  Take Pictures.  Act.  Make.  Dream.  Discover.  Explore.  Love.  Laugh.    Have Faith.  Teach.

There is a process much larger than all of us that hears us when we most need to be heard and loves us when we forget to love ourselves.

Tonight, I was reacquainted with Kismet and had a conversation with Serendipity.

Thank You.

Thank you for a beautiful life.  Thank you for your wisdom which has fed me, intrigued me, challenged me, graced me.  You are a “Phenomenal Woman!”

Thank you for teaching us how to be phenomenal souls.

I will carry your wisdom, your words, your truths and spirit in me everyday.
We are blessed to have such teachers walk among us.  Thank you for being mine!

May you shine on, Dr. Maya, shine on in God’s Great Light!

Rest in Peace Ms. Maya.

To all my friends and family, I am happy and thankful for your presence in this world.  Most of all, to my Kenya family, I am happy and in praise of the Almighty for keeping you alive throughout the horrendous events of the Nairobi Westgate shootings.  I know many of you were spared through what can only be described as Divine Intervention and for that, I stand in gratitude, in humble praise and in deference for those we lost.  To my extended family who lost their beloveds, I pray for your strength of faith, for your peace and for the eternal peace and rest of those who were taken from us.

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason; sometimes things have to happen that make no sense.  All we can do is keep faith alive, keep praying, keep standing in the face of adversity and keep humble and keep loving each other.  When events like this happen, let us remind each other that what really matters is us– you matter. I matter.  We are here.  Ameen.  Amen. Ahmen.

Salama Kenya!

We have all been programmed since our collective childhoods to believe that the world works in a certain way.  But here’s the truth of how this incredible Universe unfolds:  “We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so to have the life that is waiting for us.”  (Joseph Campbell) For many of you, it will require an “unlearning” of everything you have been taught– the programming of “you have to.”

You have to go to school and you have to then get a job with benefits and you have to have a retirement plan and you have to get married and you have to have children, etc, etc.

The real truth is that the only thing you “have” to do is Live.  Be who you are at all times.  Love this.  Love you.  Love life.  Re-write the software that planned your life before your life began.

Re-write it, learn anew, learn what the Yogis and the Sufis and the Mystics and the Gnostics and the Taoists have been saying for centuries:  “You are the key. And you are enough.”  Life is short- be brave.

It is your turn now

“It is your turn now,
you waited, you were patient.
The time has come,
for us to polish you.
We will transform your inner pearl
into a house of fire.
You’re a gold mine.
Did you know that,
hidden in the dirt of the earth?
It is your turn now,
to be placed in fire.
Let us cremate your impurities.”
-Rumi

Trust in the Source of Being. This means trusting the mystery of creation. The universal Source of all creation, invisible though it may be, guides you just as it guided your development in the womb. When you trust in Divine intelligence, you cooperate and invite the shift to Meaning.

Stan

So many words, so many truths.
Wish I could have, wish I should have, wish I might have…
known you better.

You chose your journey –
A path we couldn’t follow.
Now, we are hollow.

Your absence is a presence profound
A truth newly found,
questions abound
For family, friends, kith and kin

We shall mourn and we shall grieve,
with a heartfelt prayer upon lips: may the memory of you never leave.
And a prayer upon heart: may you find divine, eternal peace.
